A verification badge is a mark or symbol that usually indicates that a user’s account or page has been verified on different social media. This verification badge can be described as a star in a circle shape, with a good mark thick inside.
The verification badge was initially free on social media such as Facebook and Twitter, and it’s occasionally offered to celebrities, public figures and other well known organizations and businesses. It can just be offered by providing an ID card and some other documents.
But recently, these two popular social media (Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter), have changed their policies in such a way that users can now pay for the verification badge.
This means that the verification badges are not just for celebrities and public figures only now, it can now be offered to anyone at all.

Before we go on with the tutorials, let’s check out some requirements to get the free verification badge:
- Active Facebook account.
- Make sure your name hasn’t been changed for the past 60 days.
- Via Browser
- A JavaScript code (which I’ll drop)
- Go to Play store or Applestore and download a “Via Browser” app
- Launch the App
- Browse facebook.com
- Sign in to your Facebook account
- Go to account settings (where you’ll change your name)
- Clear your current name (Both First name, Middle name and last name)
- Copy this JavaScript code (the JavaScript code was uploaded on another site due to some security reasons, click here to access the page)
- Go to your code editor app or Notepad (to edit the JavaScript code)
- While editing the code, there just few things to edit:
- i. var fullName: (This is the new name you’re changing to, Erase “Paul Chinonso” and input your full name, NB: maintain the symbol at the end).
- Ii. var firstName: (This your current first name, erase “Paul” and add your current first name)
- III. var middleName: (This is your current middle name, Add your current middle name if you’re using it)
- iv. var lastName: (This your current last name, erase “Chinonso” and your current name)
- You’ve finished editing the code, copy all the code and minimize back to the changing of name using Via Browser.
- Click on the browsing link at the top and replace it with the JavaScript code
- Repeat the process (Click on the browsing link at the top and replace it with the JavaScript code) 3 to 5 times till you’re notified that you’re unable to change name at the moment.
- Go back to your profile and refresh it.
- All set and done.
